My photography explores a bucolic rendering of harmony between nature and the individual, in which the two exist symbiotically. Through these images, a mythologised identity emerges, reminiscent of Arthurian figures such as the Lady of the Lake and Blodeuwedd from the Mabinogion, where the female figure is interwoven with the landscape and presented as part of an innate existence detached from modern life.
By working exclusively with analogue photography, I feel deeply connected to my work and continually engaged by its physicality and unpredictability. The tactile process of loading film, gradually exposing images and developing photographs by hand in the darkroom allows me to interact intimately with each image, while chemistry and light become almost like magical collaborators in the final outcome. I am fascinated by older cameras, photographic chemistry and the material process involved in creating an image by hand. The uncertainty embedded within analogue practice, never fully knowing what has been captured until the film is developed, creates a sense of anticipation that I value deeply.
I value the tantalising uncertainty involved in working by hand and the surprise of witnessing an image magically appear during development. I find this unpredictability also creates opportunities for experimentation and discovery, and allows the process itself to influence a more organic final result.

Identity
For this project, the focus was on exploring self-identity, which for me centred  in the woodlands. These were all shoot using a Mamiya C330 with Fompan iso 400 film.

Presence in the Landscape
In this project, I explored the presence of light on the landscape. Exploring how everything is shaped through the light of the sun and moon. Within my work, the sun and the moon become a divine power, a feminine power. They are blown out, becoming powerful orbs of light illuminating the land before me. They are symbols of safety, security, solace, and guides through the land.
Though the use of long exposures my practice became spiritual, a time of contemplation within the rural landscape, a time of self reflection whilst alone with only the presence of the sun and moon. Using a f.22 to create a large depth of field then resulting in longer exposure times.

Pinhole Experiments
My fanination with analogy photography started with a class project creating Pin holes cameras. The process was like magic to me as I had no understanding of the science or chemistry behind it, to put a pice of paper into a box expose it to light and then put into mysterious solutions enchanted me instantly.  Below are some of the first photos I ever took with an artistic intent and I hold them close as they were my starting point.
